It is possible that a router with a gigabit port is an older device and may not be able to sustain the throughput. It is also possible that the router is malfunctioning. Another possibility that the router has only 100 Mbps Ethernet ports for the LAN side, which would limit your throughput there. Can you reply with the model of your router and I can look up the specs?
