Hey Marcel,
I recently received notice that AT&T gigapower fiber network is coming to my neighborhood and I want to make sure that I have the proper equipment to handle that increase speed. Should we choose to go with the service
We have a tp-link AC 1200 Wireless dual band gigabit router
And a Netgear cable modem cm500
I think these should be sufficient I just purchase them last year when our old equipment stopped working but you seem to be the guy to ask. I also read your review of the gigapower by AT&T
Thanks!

It is tough for me to provide an honest answer because I’ve not personally tested gigabit service with different routers. All I can pass along is that I’ve have clients say they have had good luck with the Apple Airport devices, and gauging from what I know of those devices, any reasonably powerful router that has been released in the last couple of years should in theory work well with a gigabit service. Probably the best source of information is my GigaPower article, as the comment section has real user experiences.

Also, your cable modem will be irrelevant, since AT&T will provide their own modem to bring their service into your home. So you’ll be putting away your cable modem since you won’t need it anymore. Good luck and let us know how your gigabit experience is when you get it!
